What started it all

Everyone remembers their first. And no, that’s not what I mean. I’m talking about their first laptop or their first time using social media. I surely remember. I was 16 when I got my first laptop. It was a present because I was doing well in school and I was going to need a laptop for when I started college. So my mom ordered one from Dell and it was my own. No more PC’s for me after that. Here’s a photo of what mine actually looked like, I think it’s still downstairs in our basement, we just use it to practice things on it.

I bet you remember your first. Opening the packaging, so clean, so shiny. Or your first social media account, sitting there thinking about what your first post would be. You sat there thinking you wanted to start off with a bang, something that would attract many likes, followers, something that would make people think. I honestly don’t remember what my firsts were. I currently don’t have Twitter and I just recently made a new Facebook account, so starting over wasn’t much of a first. I pretty much just post about school. Or your first phone, guys mine was that small little white Nokia phone. I literally could hide that anywhere. I loved that phone.

Anyway, life is so full of firsts and it really never ends. You’ll always have a new first. I didn’t know that having my own laptop would really change my life. I mean, now I am here blogging about it to all of you. So I know this is my shortest #TBT but I figured since I’m a little behind on school work, I would share with you what my first laptop looked like. Do you remember yours? What did your first laptop look like? Or phone? I’m trying to just make you think of all your firsts. No, not that first:P

Until next, #tbt!!

Missy What?!

Okay, so if you haven’t already heard..Missy Elliot made an awesome appearance during the Super Bowl. There were many of us…(like me) who were ecstatic to hear and see her perform. It’s been quite awhile. Of course, there were some who were a little confused as to who she was and wondered if she was a new artist.

It’s funny how so many people weren’t sure of who she was. My point is some songs have become something that would be used as a throwback. You know songs of nostalgia. They’re barely played on your iTunes or burned into a cd somewhere in your room. I used to listen to Missy Elliot when I was in high school (which was five years ago). Music is constantly changing which means younger kids nowadays listen to completely different artists than what I listened to and to what my parents and so forth. Which got me thinking, I probably don’t know that many artists that past generations listened to ( I know some because I’m a moodie…its like a foodie but for music).

So what I decided to do for my #throwback feature was to focus on music.

We all have that one song that takes us back to hanging with your pals, that one school dance, that song that got you through that tough time. So what I plan to share with all of you are three songs for my #TBT.

1. Chris Brown- ‘Run It’

Yup, that’s right before he went and did things that I do not condone. I was obsessed with CB. This was “my jam” when I actually could bust a move. I know I make myself sound really old, but I actually can’t dance anymore. I feel like I lost my hip hop dance moves. But back to my throwback. Everyone knew this was my jam. I had his posters alongside, Usher and Keshia Chante (you can YouTube her, if you don’t know) on my walls. So let me share this song with you because it always makes me want to dance, even if I don’t like the artist CB has become.

2. Ciara ft. Petey Pablo- ‘Goodies’

Oh gosh, how could anyone forget about my goodies…haha just kidding. Ciara was and still is my girl. I know it sounds crazy but I wanted to be her because of her sick dance moves. She had an athletic build and could make you want to dance and sing. Along many of her other songs, this was one of my favourites. She had songs that fit your every mood. I would always listen to her on my MP3 player.

3. Ne-Yo – ‘Miss Independent’

So for me Ne-Yo was the Bruno Mars of my generation. And okay, again I’m not that old but every girl I knew was jamming out to Ne-Yo. He made us feel things, he was there when we were sad and when we knew we would be okay. I was never ‘so sick’ of listening to him. I have a whole cd (that I burned for my stereo) of his music to get me through my high school crushes. When this song came out, I was finally leaving high school and it felt perfect. I felt like I would become this big independent girl who is going off to college. Oh and again, he can also dance. I really like dancers and singers, if you didn’t get that by now.

So this is my #throwbackthursday for this week, feel free to tell me your #tbt songs whether they are new, recent or a nice classic. I can’t wait to go ahead and listen to them. If you didn’t know that already, I love listening to music and finding little gems. So don’t forget to share!!

Okay, so I’ve been kind of busy and I haven’t even had time to think about blogging. Terrible Right? It’s a good thing that I’m taking this blogging course to keep me on track. After five whole minutes of thinking about what I could write about today, I decided to use the famous Instagram trend #throwbackthursday or #TBT. Why? Well, because it’s a whole lot of fun. I mean who doesn’t like digging up their favourite childhood pictures or finding that really raggedy doll that’s missing half of her hair and her eyes aren’t as cute as they used to be. But either way, it makes you smile to go back and remember those days.

This is totally out of the norm for me. But let’s talk about my two favourite toys of the 90s.

I had lots of toys but I absolutely loved my polly pockets. Polly pockets no longer fit in your pocket. They’re different, they’re modern. They’re quite big. It makes me sad. I still don’t know why they changed the size or how they look, I guess the times do change and thus making it one of my favourite #TBT toys. I mean I felt really cool having so many different kinds and carrying them everywhere and playing with all them and changing their environments. It only sucked when you lost one. #sad

The next 90s toy that I was obsessed with were SKY DANCERS. yes, you heard me. Sky Dancers. The coolest toys that I ever owned. In all honesty, I still wish I had one. Who didn’t love all of them? I think I had most of them. They made me happy. They looked magical. I wish I could get my hand on one or two. Who doesn’t love toys that fly? I always found that toys designed for boys tend to be the ones that do the cool stuff (I used to also play with “boy” toys) like fly, jump, you know what I mean. So when I got my sky dancer I was happy. It only sucked when one hit you in the face. #ouch

Yes, this was a short post because I just really wanted to share a #TBT and I want to know in the comments what was your favourite toy. Until next #TBT, see you!

If you were a 90s girl, here’s a link for some more #TBT toys of the 90s!
